History
The Angus Knight Group was originally founded in 1991 to deliver hospitality training, at a time when governments were moving vocational training expenditure to the private sector. The company developed innovative courses in job search training which were included as part of a government-funded program to assist the unemployed.
In 1998, the Group leveraged its experience in working with the unemployed and successfully bid for the Federal Government’s Employment Services Contract (ESC). The Group was awarded a $12 million contract and became a foundation member of the Job Network. Over the next decade, through a number of acquisitions and successful tenders, Jobfind built a company with a truly national footprint and secured a position as the largest private provider in Workforce Development in Australia.
In 2009, the Job Network program was replaced by Job Services Australia and today Jobfind is one of the largest providers in the country with a range of pre-employment, training, recruitment and post-employment services under contract with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Also in 2009, the Government’s Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) program was re-launched to assist Indigenous individuals and communities improve their economic and social well-being. Jobfind currently delivers CDEP in partnership with the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) to 6 remote communities across Queensland and the Northern Territory: Lockhart River, Hope Vale, Pormpuraaw, Wadeye, Groote Eylandt and Coen.
In 2010, Disability Employment Services (DES) was introduced as the Australian Government’s new employment services system for people with disabilities. Jobfind delivers DES in over twenty five locations across the Northern Territory and Queensland including the remote Cape York Region.
In 1999, Angus Knight invested in R&D in E-Learning aimed at entering the Vocational Education and Training market. This resulted in the formation of Click2Learn (later renamed SumTotal Australia & New Zealand) and the acquisition of Omni Asia Pacific from the ANZ Bank.
In December, 2007 Westpac Direct Equity Investment became a major shareholder in the Angus Knight Group.
Today, the Group is a diversified organisation with leading brands in workforce development and corporate educational training.
