News Employers receive up to $4000 in wage and training subsidies Townsville, 24 June 2004 – In a determined bid to improve employment opportunities for job seekers, leading job network provider Jobfind Centres Townsville launched an Employer Assistance Program in 2003 to help relieve the pressure on local businesses from the cost of hiring and training new employees. According to Townsville centre manager Carroll Benson , the Employer Assistance Program (EAP) which is available exclusive at Jobfind Centres, has already seen two local businesses including Australian Chemicals and Cash Converters gain valuable benefits and assistance from Jobfind. “It's a win-win situation for both employers and job seekers because employers gain subsidies of up to $4,000 for hiring a job seeker from Jobfind, while job seekers gain appropriate training, care and experience from local businesses to help kick-start a new career. “And while the EAP is designed to take away some of the cost burden of hiring a new staff member, it will also encourage businesses to hire more staff, which ultimately promotes a stronger local business economy”, says Carroll. As part of the Federal Government's job network, Jobfind Centres is able to assist employers before and after they hire a job seeker from Jobfind Centres. The program can include assistance in the form of: • Staff training expenses • Wage assistance or subsidies • Tools, equipment, uniforms • Workplace modifications • Licences and tickets, qualifications “ Jobfind is always looking for innovative ways to help employers save time and money when recruiting and training new staff, and the EAP is our latest initiative that aims to encourage businesses and job seekers in the community to work together”, says Carroll.
